Daniel David "Swampy" Doane

1973 - 2007

Swampy left us unexpectedly on March 30. A New Orleans native, Santa Cruz cab driving legend, and a comedic fixture at music festivals throughout CA, he's left behind the loves of his life. His wife Abbie Jane, and beautiful young daughter Abbie Lou.  Abbie Lou's car seat was always strapped in the middle of the back seat so Swampy could stare at her whilst driving.  To say he was in love and devoted would be an understatement.

His cab driving antics were not just legendary, they were life saving. Dave was an extremely talented and well known chef, gifted actor, and musician. His love for life and sense of self were unrivaled. The lengths he'd go to help a friend were extraordinary.

The celebration of his life that took place in Santa Cruz was a sight to behold. Hundreds of friends and family parading through the streets in a New Orleans Funeral Procession with a live band leading the dancing. Laissez les bon temps roulette, Swampy!
